Important Updates on Health Care Reform Laws
This year has brought the most sweeping reforms to health care coverage since Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans began almost 75 years ago. The new Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, with over 2,000 pages of new federal law, will touch virtually every facet of the health care industry.We've assembled work teams to analyze the impact of this and other state and federal laws, and how to implement them. We will update our customers regularly as the changes that will be required and the other implications of the state and federal mandates become clearer.
This week, we are providing information to help you understand the implications of the new Health Care Reform law. We will forward this information to all commercial employers (e-mail and postal mailing) early next week. Please find links to the following documents below:

Watch for future updates as we review these and other mandates, and their implications to our industry. Meanwhile, our Public Affairs team, with help from our State Plan Presidents and other leaders, will continue to advocate at the federal and state level for reforms and effective implementation of the legislation to improve quality and help manage costs.
