Double Chocolate Brownies

16 squares

These are moist, chocolate, rich and easy to make brownies.

  • 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 12oz package semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Preheat oven to 325°.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt, set aside.

In a small saucepan, combine butter, sugar and water; heat just to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips and the vanilla. Stir until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually blend in flour mixture. Stir in remaining chips and nuts. Spread in a greased 9" square pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until brownies test done. Cool completely and cut into squares.

Recipe may be doubled and baked in a 9"x13" pan, resulting in a thicker brownie. Bake 35-45 minutes. If desired, dust cooled brownies with powdered sugar.
