Chocolate Chip Cookies

Makes 5 to 6 Dozen

  • 2/3 cup Crisco shortening
  • 2/3 cup margarine or butter,
       or butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups Gold Medal flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 12 oz. package semisweet
       chocolate pieces

Heat oven to 375° degrees. Mix thoroughly the shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. (For a softer, rounder cookie, add another 1/2 cup flour).

Drop dough by the rounded teaspoonful 2 inches apart onto an ungreased nonstick baking sheet (I use 2 sheets so as one comes out of the oven, I pop in the other). Bake about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool pan slightly on rack before removing cookies from baking sheet.

HINT: Always use Air-Insulated pans for perfect cookies every time.
